So, I'm in Berlin right now.
Apparently THAT (and four months) was what I needed to finish this mix.
I hope you enjoy.

Sounds pretty heavenly, right? Yeah, we know. Here’s the catch, we need four simple things from you in exchange for this much fun:
1.) RESPECT THE SPACE – we’re keeping this “family style,” invite your friends, especially your pretty ones, ok, your pretty ones and your ugly ones too, but please don’t push this invitation to big lists/going.com/eventful/etc. because space is limited and we want to keep this to our beautiful, sexy, fun, extended family.
2.) WEAR RANDOM FUCKING BLING!!! - ‘cause every party needs a theme and nothing says “fuck a recession” more than dressing up like Mase circa 1996.
3.) RSVP & PAY COVER IN ADVANCE – we’re doing this for fun and to bring nationwide, extended crew together. Accordingly, NO CASH WILL BE EXCHANGED AT THE DOOR, sooooooo, unless you’ve got a really good reason for not being on the rsvp/door-list, you will be turned away.
4.) BYOB IF YOU WANT BOOZE OTHER THAN SANGRIA.
See, absolutely painless!

When I was in middle school, I had a friend named Ben. He wasn't the coolest kid in school. Nevertheless, he was always calling the local radio station to dedicate songs to the hottest girls in 6th grade. Me? I was all about the mix tape. Not to get all High Fidelity on you kids, but I miss making mix tapes. I still can't decide which was more fun: making the tape or finding a way to slip it into a girl's backpack/locker in between classes.
Perhaps I'm doing it ass backwards, to make a mix tape before I have my official summer crush. Then again, me-thinks this is really good advertising for the way I make out.
Like the drummer for Spinal Tap, every copy of Metro Area's first cd I have ever owned winds up having an odd and spectacular demise.

Who has enough money to buy high falutin' records during these dire times? Not me! That's who. That's also a lie. I actually picked up a few new records when I was in San Francisco a few weeks ago. Nonetheless, I've got deep pockets and short arms these days, so it's still goodbye beatport, hello sampler.
So, yeah, enjoy #2, Duice v. Black Heat - Jungle Number
.
I'm too broke to buy new records. But, I'm not too broke to visit the used cd section at Amoeba Music L.A. and then fire up the sampler.
I made this mix last summer over the course of a month with Vaughn "Permaculture Conspiracy" Glover in Salvador, Brazil. Hanging out with Shahid last weekend revealed that I did a shitty job sharing this one with people so I am trying that again. Excuse the audio shank midway though, we had no decent gear but a million great records. Streaming takes a minute to get going, don't panic. Enjoy!
